Ashara Mubaraka 1442: Hazrat Is Our Home

Updated: Oct 10, 2020

Allah Subhanahu proclaims in the Quran:

Bismillah-Hir-Rahman-ir-Raheem

Eesa A.S proclaims: Oh Allah! Bless upon us a table of spread, a Ma'idah, from the heavens which will become an Eid for the first of us and the last of us, and a proof from you. Grant us prosperity for you are the best of the providers.

One of our esteemed teachers, Janab Shk Juzer Bhai Hakimi in an istibsaar session explained that there is no doubt that this prayer was granted this year to us, through the Waaz Mubarak of 3 Duat we received everyday. The barakat of Ashara Mubaraka and Azaa-ul-Husain flowed into every home from Syedna Taher Saifuddin (R.A.) to Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin (T.U.S), and this circle of barakat and ilm, this ma'idat, had reached our ancestors and has now reached us. We now celebrate this Eid knowing that it will now go on to reach those after us Inshallah.

While almost everyone was planning their life around uncertainty due to the effects of this crisis, I was still hopeful for one thing: that we would still get the sharaf to go to Ashara Mubaraka 1442 and be in the presence of Moula TUS. The moment I realized that we would not obtain the typical experience of traveling to a new city and doing talaqqi of Moula’s (TUS) waaz mubarak in person, I was certain that I would not procure the same barakat through a TV screen. Most people thought, including myself, that after almost 100 years of continuing this rasm, a pandemic would ruin the experience. I was wrong. Not one aspect of Ashara was left out in this quarantine version.

This Ashara challenged us to show what we had learned in these years that Moula T.U.S. has prepared us. Every year we are fortunate to sit in a atmosphere of mourning, grief, and hear the wailing of azadaar all around us, to absorb it, to be driven by it. This year we were asked: can you cry for your Imam who sacrificed his life, his family, and his sultanat for you, when there is no one around you? Can you bring the josh of matam with only your own two hands and voice?

I realized that all these years, the noha aweel that Syedna Muffadal Saifuddin has been calling for, every single “Aah!” that we cried out over the years was to prepare us for these days that were coming. The days in which we would be sitting in our own homes partaking in the type of noha aweel that we partake in Syedna’s Hazrat itself. Although we were in our homes, Burhanuddin Maula R.A made it clear that wherever mumineen are partaking in Majlis-e-Hussain, we are in his majlis. In those hours of waaz we weren't at home, but rather were in the hazrat of three Dai’s. Accordingly, the noha aweel we do has to be at the level of the Dai’s hazrat and with that, the worry of how it would happen went away. Watching the noha aweel of Syedna Taher Saifuddin RA, Syedna Mohammed Burhanuddin RA, and Syedna Muffadal Saifuddin TUS made it impossible not to shed tears. The location didn’t matter. It was just us and Maula.

Immeasurable Blessings

Throughout this Ashara Mubaraka, we have been graced with the Waaz Mubarak of three Duat Mutlaqeen each day. The transitions are seamless; amazingly, each Waaz Mubarak appears is as if delivered by the same Dai, on the same topic, even in the same words. Furthermore, each Waaz is pertinent to our lives today, as if it was written and delivered in the present. Later, each night, we again participate in matam and bukaa with Moula during Raat Majlis.

Additionally, Niyaz-e-Husain AS was delivered to every mumin’s home, every single day. Syedna Mohammed Burhanuddin laid the groundwork long ago, surely knowing that these days would come along in which such a marvelous system would facilitate Niyaz-e- Husain for all mumineen. Many of us have had the good fortune to be able to participate in the filling and distribution of food everyday as well. Moula T.U.S. often, with tears in his eyes, persuades us to feed mumineen as much as we can. “Apan to rahat si kamaye che, to pachi mumin ne kem na jamarye? Jamaro Jamaro!”. For those of us who look forward to the Mawaid Khidmat in Ashara, Moula brought this to our homes and allowed us to hand-deliver food to the homes of mumineen everywhere, and look in their eyes and receive their gratitude.

It didn’t stop there, as Moula graced us with the sharaf of leading Imamat Namaz, sent tazeen for our homes, delivered syrup and milk for Sabil-e-Husain AS, provided the means for istibsar, and even took us alongside himself and Syedna Mohammed Burhanuddin RA for ziyarat of Imam Husain AS and led us in the matam of Imam Husain, which is our khair-iz-zaad, the best of provisions for our journey ahead. Every night at the same time, in every timezone, mumineen across the world did matam together in their homes, remembered Imam Husain A.S. sacrifice together in their homes. Each mumin’s hadiyo of matam and buka’ was lifted from their home, and Inshallah reached the hazrat of Moula, and Imam-az-Zamaan, together as one. And this is the meaning of jama’ for us, by space we may have been apart, but by spirit we were one. These are the hadiyao we araz to Huzurala T.U.S.

Breaking Free of Time and Place

In particular, I was perplexed by one of the nightly bayaans of Amir-ul-Jamea Shahzada

Yusuf Bhaisaheb Najmuddin where he prayed that with the Dua Mubarak of Al-Dai-al-Ajal

Syedna Mohammed Burhanuddin RA we would free ourselves from the limits of zaman

(time) and makan (place) in our matam and bukaa upon the Zikr of Imam Husain AS.

While physically we were in our homes, our hearts were with Moula TUS at all times. In the

blink of an eye we could be transported through both time and place, from watching

Moula TUS arrive to the masjid in Pune during 1413H to delivering the Waaz Mubarak in

Qahera in 1401H. Moments later we find ourselves in Colombo during 1441H with Moula

TUS for the Majlis-un-Noha. Where were we? When were we? The constant was that we

were always with Moula TUS.

Truly, Syedna TUS is free from the confines of zaman and makan. And only by holding

Moula’s TUS daman are we able to break free and join Moula in bukaa upon Zikr-e-Husain

AS.

Our Saifuddin

Ultimately, while people around the world were undergoing countless struggles, each and

every mumin was under the protective Sayo of Moula TUS. It is just as Moula TUS

described through the Arabic quote:

“There is no surprise in how those who perished, perished. What is worthy of amazement, however, is how did those who attained salvation do so?”

-Syedna Abdeali Saifuddin (R.A.)

We are left in amazement of the way Moula TUS protected us mumineen

during this period. Not only was there the looming threat of COVID-19, but here in

Houston, two hurricanes began to rapidly approach the gulf coast. In California, wildfires threatened mumineen homes as near as 2 miles. By the Dua Mubarak of Moula TUS, the path of these storms shifted east, sparing our homes.

Today, our Moula TUS is overseeing our world in the likeness of the 43rd Dai-al-Mutlaq

Syedna Abdeali Saifuddin, who two centuries earlier personally took care of over 12,000

mumineen over the course of 11 months.

May Khuda TA keep our Moula TUS in Sehat and Aafiyat until the Day of Qiyamaat!
